MANHIGH

Since 2017, manhigh has amassed hundreds of shows in multiple states. Notably, they’ve worked with David Catching (Queens of the Stone Age, earthlings?, Eagles of Death Metal, Mojave Lords) at the world famous Rancho de la Luna Studio in Joshua Tree, California,  the recording site of classic albums like Iggy Pop’s “Post Pop Depression”, Arctic Monkeys’ “AM”, and Queens of the Stone Age’s “Songs for the Deaf”

Manhigh was started in April 2017 in Albuquerque, NM as a way to bounce riff ideas off of Gabriel Gambino (vocals, guitar) and Raymond Gutierrez (drums). Gabrielle Gambino, Gabriel’s wife, joined the band after just 4 months of learning the bass and soon after, they embarked on their first tour with Brazilian stoner rockers The Spacetime Ripples in September 2017. The initial tour lasted 6 weeks and spanned 7 states.

Plans were in place to embark on a European run in 2019. However, tragedy struck when Gabrielle suddenly passed at the age of 29 after an accident. 

In 2020, manhigh. resolved to reemerge as a two piece band, with Gambino and Gutierrez re-working their material to fit their new sound and writing took place shortly thereafter. 

In July 2020, their first EP without Gabrielle, (.6667), was released. The title being a nod to the mathematical equation of being “two thirds” of what they were before. 

Since 2020, the duo has been continuing to play their raucous set for anyone who will listen, both as a way to continue a legacy as well as forge a new one with it. 

In August of 2023, manhigh was signed to be the house band for Duke City Championship Wrestling, playing for hundreds every month in Albuquerque’s Downtown District at the Historic El Rey Theater. 

The new gig has reinvigorated the band in new ways, and since then, they’re recording, making and selling merch and doing what they love best: sharing the gift and energy of music with whoever will listen. 

The band has no plans of stopping and will pay honor to their past while creating a brighter future.
